Childrens House Art is a division of Childrens House. This policy explains what personal information we collect through art.childrenshouse.co.za, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who we are
Childrens House is the responsible party for the personal information described here.
We have appointed an Information Officer as required by POPIA. If you need to contact them, or exercise any of the rights set out below, email art@childrenshouse.co.za and your request will be directed to them.
What we collect, and why
When you register an account

We use either Google sign-in or an emailed sign-in link. We do not store passwords.
When you add a campus or request a quote

Supplying this information is voluntary, but we cannot quote for or deliver an order without a delivery address and contact number.
When you use the site
We collect standard analytics information — pages viewed, approximate location by country, device and browser type — to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
Who we share it with
Dala (KV Art Pty Ltd), our supplier. We supply direct from Dala's warehouse, so your delivery address and contact details are shared with them for the purpose of fulfilling your order.

Couriers and customs authorities, where an order is delivered outside South Africa. Export orders require a bill of entry and waybill naming the recipient.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Information sent outside South Africa
Some of the providers above store information outside South Africa — principally in Ireland, the European Union and the United States.
POPIA permits this where the recipient is bound by rules providing an adequate level of protection. Each of our providers is contractually required to protect your information to a standard comparable to POPIA, and processes it only on our instructions.
How long we keep it
Account and contact information — for as long as your account is active, and for 12 months after it becomes inactive. After that we delete it.
Quotations, orders and invoices — for five years, as required by the Tax Administration Act and the Companies Act. We cannot delete these earlier, even on request.
Website analytics — retained by Google in line with their standard retention settings, in aggregate rather than individually identifiable form.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct it if it is inaccurate, or ask us to complete it if it is incomplete
- Delete it, subject to the retention periods above
- Object to our processing of it
- Complain to the Information Regulator
To exercise any of these, email art@childrenshouse.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable period, and within any timeframe POPIA requires.
Security
We hold your information in access-controlled systems. Account access requires a verified email address, and staff access is limited to those who need it to provide the service.
Where a security compromise affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used.
Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your basket. The site cannot work without them.
Analytics and chat — Google Analytics tells us how the site is used, and HubSpot provides the chat feature on some pages. These set their own cookies.
You can block cookies in your browser, though doing so will prevent you signing in.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, email us first at art@childrenshouse.co.za and we will try to resolve it.
You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, whose contact details are published at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and material changes will be notified to account holders by email.
